My take on a classic indian dish

Ingredients

  • 1 onions
  • 2 clove of garlic
  • 1 Tbsp of ground coriander
  • 1 Tbsp of ground cumin
  • 0.5 Tsp of ground cayenne pepper
  • 2 Tsp of roasted cumin seeds
  • 1 Tsp of ground turmeric
  • 1 Tbsp of curry paste
  • 1-2 Tsp of curry powder
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 large can of chickpeas
  • 2 Tsp of paprika
  • 1 Tsp of garam masala
  • 1 Jalapeno
  • 1 Olive Oil

Method

  1. Mince the onion
  2. Mince the garlic
  3. Chop the tomatoes
  4. Roast the cumin seed in a pan (low heat)
  5. Heat the olive oil at medium heat
  6. Add the onion, sauté for 3-5 minutes
  7. Add the garlic
  8. Turn heat to medium-low
  9. Add the coriander, ground cumin, cayenne and turmeric, curry powder
  10. Stir a tad
  11. Add the tomatoes and the hot pepper and cook for a few minutes
  12. Add the curry paste
  13. Add the chickpeas and a cup of water, stir
  14. the roasted cumin, paprika, garam masala, and salt
  15. Cook covered for 20 minutes
  16. Cook un-covered for 10 minutes
