Ingredients
- 1kg of Hamburger Meat or Chili meat
- 2-3 Onions
- 4-5 Cloves of Garlic
- 2 kg Diced Tomatoes (2 large cans)
- 1 can of water
- 1-2kg of Dark Red Beans (4 small cans)
- 450g Red Beans to be mashed (1 small can)
- 1 Pack of Chili Spice (Chili spice kit, includes: Chili spice, cayenne, salt, dry onion and masa
- 1 Pack of Taco Spice
- Hot pepper (piment)
- Cayenne pepper
- Olive Oil
- Optional: Dry Garlic Powder
- Salt & Peper
Method
- Crush 1 small can of beans (using a fork or in a small plastic bag and set aside
- Open the beans and dry out the bean juice, rince
- Open the tomato cans
- Mince the onions and garlic
- On medium-high heat: Saute the onions and garlic in olive oil.
- Set the onions aside
- Add the beef and saute as well (remove all water).
- Add the chili and taco spices, salt, pepper cayenne, dry garlic etc…
- Add back the onions
- Add the tomatoes and the beans and the water. Mix. Reduce the heat to low.
- Let it simmer on low heat for ever, usually all night long and the following day. Mix from time to time, careful not to scratch the bottom of the pan
- A few minutes before serving, dilute the Masa powder in a bit of the chili juice, then incorporate into the chili. Cook a few more minutes and serve
- Serve in small bowls, some people like cheese on top and/or some rice on the side.
